Privacy Policy

Gym Companion Coach ("the App") is developed and operated by Snojken AB, a Swedish corporation (reg. no. 556834-4641). This Privacy Policy explains how your information is collected, used, and protected when you use the App.

Information We Collect

The App collects the following information to provide its core functionality:

• Personal Information: Your name, date of birth, sex, height, and weight, which you provide during onboarding to personalize your experience and calculate nutritional targets. Your date of birth is used to derive your age for metabolic rate calculations.
• Health and Fitness Data: Workout details (exercises, sets, reps, weights, duration), heart rate data, active energy burned, body weight entries, and workout records accessed through Apple HealthKit.
• Photos: Meal photos you choose to capture or select from your photo library for meal logging.
• Fitness Goals and Schedule: Your training schedule, fitness goals (cut, bulk, or maintain), and activity level preferences.

How We Use Your Information

All data collected is used solely for app functionality:

• Personalizing your workout and nutrition recommendations
• Calculating daily calorie targets and tracking nutritional intake
• Providing context-aware suggestions based on your schedule and habits
• Displaying workout summaries, statistics, and progress tracking
• Syncing your data between your iPhone and Apple Watch

Data Storage and Sync

Your data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. To back up your iPhone data and keep it consistent across any iPhones signed in to the same Apple ID, your data is also stored in your personal iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit service. This data is associated with your Apple ID and is governed by Apple's own privacy policies.

Sync between your iPhone and Apple Watch happens directly between the two devices over Apple's WatchConnectivity framework (using Bluetooth or local Wi-Fi). Your Apple Watch does not use iCloud for Gym Companion Coach data, and no iCloud account is required on the watch for sync to work.

We do not have access to your iCloud data. Our server is used only to relay meal photo analysis requests to OpenAI when you opt in to the AI food recognition feature — no personal data or photos are stored on our server.

Apple HealthKit

The App integrates with Apple HealthKit to read and write health data with your permission. Specifically:

• Read: Body weight, active energy burned, heart rate, and workouts from other apps.
• Write: Completed workouts, dietary calories from logged meals, and body weight entries.

HealthKit data is never used for advertising, marketing, or any purpose other than providing app functionality. HealthKit data is not shared with third parties. You can revoke HealthKit permissions at any time through the Health app on your device.

We Do Not Sell Your Data

We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to any third party for their own use, and we commit not to do so in the future. Your data is not, and will not become, a revenue stream for us. The App contains no third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or behavioral tracking tools.

Operational Data Processing

A small number of features rely on processors acting on your behalf and under our instructions. These are the only third parties that ever see any of your data, and only the specific data described:

• When you opt in to the AI food recognition feature, a compressed meal photo is transmitted to OpenAI via our server for nutritional analysis. No other personal data is sent. See the "AI-Powered Food Recognition" section for details.
• When you opt in to the AI Workout Insights feature, anonymized fitness data is transmitted to OpenAI for analysis. No personally identifying information is included. See the "AI Workout Insights" section for details.

OpenAI processes this data under its API terms and does not use API inputs to train its models. We do not sell, license, or disclose this data to anyone else.

Data Tracking and Advertising

We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not use your data for third-party advertising or behavioral targeting.

Camera and Photo Library

The App requests access to your camera and photo library for the purpose of attaching photos to meal entries and, optionally, analyzing meal photos using AI-powered food recognition. Photos attached to meal entries are stored locally on your device and in your personal iCloud account.

AI-Powered Food Recognition

The App offers an optional AI-powered food recognition feature that estimates nutritional content from meal photos. When you choose to use this feature by tapping the analysis button, the following occurs:

• Data transmitted: A compressed, resized copy of your meal photo is sent to our server, which forwards it to OpenAI's API for analysis. Only the image data is sent — no personal information, account details, or metadata is included.
• Purpose: The image is used solely to identify the food and estimate its nutritional values (calories, protein, fat, carbohydrates, and serving size).
• Third-party processing: The image is processed by OpenAI in accordance with OpenAI's API data usage policies. OpenAI does not use API inputs to train their models.
• No persistent storage: We do not store your photos on our servers. The image is transmitted in real time for analysis and is not retained after the response is returned.
• User control: This feature is entirely optional. You must explicitly tap the analysis button each time. The App will ask for your consent before using AI analysis for the first time. You are never required to use this feature — you can always enter nutritional information manually.

AI Workout Insights

The App offers an optional AI Workout Insights feature that analyzes your training and nutrition data to provide personalized recommendations. This feature is opt-in only — you must explicitly enable it during onboarding or in Settings. You can disable it at any time in Settings, which immediately stops all future data transmission.

When you enable and use this feature, the following data is transmitted to OpenAI for analysis:

• Anonymized profile stats: Age, weight, height, sex, fitness goal (cut, bulk, or maintain), and activity level.
• Training schedule: Your planned workout days, exercises, target sets, reps, and weights.
• Workout sessions: Exercises performed, sets, reps, and weights used.
• Nutrition logs: Macronutrient totals (calories, protein, fat, carbohydrates) and meal timing.
• Body weight trend: Recent body weight entries to contextualize progress.

The following information is never sent:

• Your name or any other personally identifying information.
• Photos of any kind.
• Your Apple ID or any account identifiers.
• Device identifiers or advertising identifiers.

Data transmitted for AI Workout Insights is processed by OpenAI in accordance with OpenAI's API data usage policies. OpenAI does not use API inputs to train their models.

Notifications

With your permission, the App may send local notifications to remind you about workouts and meals based on your habits and schedule. Notification preferences can be changed at any time in your device settings.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your data remains on your device and in your iCloud account for as long as you use the App. To delete your data:

• Delete the App from your device to remove all local data.
• To remove iCloud data, go to Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Storage and delete the App's data.
• To remove HealthKit data written by the App, use the Health app on your device.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Future Features and Data Use

If we introduce new features that involve additional data processing — such as commerce, personalized recommendations, or partnerships — those features will be strictly opt-in. You will never be enrolled automatically, we will disclose in plain language what data is used and why, and declining will not reduce your access to existing features.

This is a commitment to a process, not just to today's specific practices: any expansion of how your data is used will be consent-based and transparent.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.
